Information from the meeting of the Payment System Council, held on 12 September, 2005. The Payment System Council, an advisory and consultative body for the Management Board of the National Bank of Poland, held a meeting on 12 September 2005.
The Council meeting was chaired by Mr. Jerzy Pruski, Chairman of the Council, First Deputy President of the NBP.
The Payment System Council: - discussed the issues connected with the evolution of the Polish payment system against the background of the development directions of the EU payment and settlement system, while recognising that these considerations should be further discussed at the next meeting of the Council,
- acknowledged the information of the Polish Bank Association on the progress of work on the draft Directive on Payment Services and discussed the consequences of this directive's coming into force,
- acknowledged the information of the Polish Bank Association on the introduction of the CREDEURO convention and the Interbank Charging Principles into the Polish payment system,
- assessed positively the functioning of the Polish payment system in the first half of 2005.
The Council decided that its next meeting would be held in December 2005.
