The NBP Press Office Communique The NBP Press Office wishes to announce that Piotr Wiesiołek has been put forward to the President of the Republic of Poland as a candidate for the office of Vice President of the NBP.
Candidate for the office of Vice President of the NBP
Piotr Wiesiołek, candidate for the office of Vice President of the NBP has spent almost all his professional life working for banks. He has advanced his banking career for 15 years, from the position of securities portfolios analyst at the NBP, to First Deputy President of the Management Board of Bank Ochrony Środowiska (BOŚ). The candidate is a top-ranking specialist in the field of official reserves management. He has more than ten-years' experience in this area as well as theoretical expertise gained at European and American banks.
Piotr Wiesiołek has gathered his banking experience at different levels of management. At the Foreign Exchange Department of the NBP (1992-1996) he was responsible for the analysis of profitability and securities portfolios management. Afterwards, he served as Vice President of different commercial banks. At present, in his capacity of Vice President of BOŚ (1999 - 2008), he has been responsible for a few years now, inter alia, for the Treasury Department, serving, at the same time as the Chairman of the Assets and Liabilities Committee.
The Candidate has not only completed post-graduate "Money and Banking" Studies at the Faculty of Economics of the Warsaw University, but also - in the 1990s - accomplished a number of specialist courses at central banks in Europe, in such fields as official reserve management, assets and liabilities management and securities markets.
