Polish Coin World’s Most Beautiful

Posted: 02-08-2011

The silver coin “Krzysztof Komeda” has been awarded the special prize of “The Most Beautiful Coin in the World” at the International Prize Vicenza Numismatica contest.

The statement accompanying the prize says that the reason for granting the award is “the romantic strength of the presentation of the pianist on the coin”. The coin was designed by Roussanka Nowakowska.

The National Bank of Poland issued the coins dedicated to the composer Krzysztof Komeda as part of the series “History of Polish Popular Music” in 2010. Another coin issued in the same series - dedicated to Czesław Niemen - won a prize at the contest COIN CONSTELLATION SANKT PETERSBURG 2010.
