“Towards a More Integrated and Stable Europe: Challenges Ahead of the Euro Area and Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe” Date: 10-10-2011 On 21-22 October 2011, the National Bank of Poland is holding the international conference “Towards a More Integrated and Stable Europe: Challenges Ahead of the Euro Area and Central, Eastern and Southeastern Europe”. The conference will be attended, among others, by Professor Marek Belka - President of the National Bank of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski - President of the Republic of Poland, Jerzy Buzek - President of the European Parliament, Jean-Claude Trichet - President of the European Central Bank, Olli Rehn – EU Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs, as well as by economists, representatives from central banks, academia and financial organizations. The autumn of 2011 marks the twentieth anniversary of the events which have shaped a new European reality of the last two decades (the emergence of new European states following the disintegration of the former Soviet Union and the former Yugoslavia and the political agreement on the creation of the Economic and Monetary Union). Hence the NBP conference will be a good opportunity to assess progress achieved so far in the process of economic integration and to draw conclusions for the future. The conference will be held in English at the Sheraton Hotel in Warsaw (ul. B. Prusa 2). Participation in the event is exclusively by accreditation with the NBP Press Office. You can request your accreditation by email at press@nbp.pl by Wednesday 12 October 2011. Please note that requests made by telephone will not be accepted. Attached you will find the conference programme along with the list of speakers. Should you have any enquiries, please contact the NBP Press Office.
