11th edition of the Władysław Grabski Contest
We award prizes to journalists who can explain complicated issues from the realm of economy to the general audience in a clear and accessible way and who contribute to the improvement of economic knowledge.
We are waiting for registrations until 1 July 2013. The following contributions are accepted: press publications, radio and TV programmes about economic issues which were diffused between 1 July 2012 and 30 June 2013 in either national or local media. This year, for the first time, the contest is open also to publications and materials in English. As in the previous years, the best economic journalist of 2013 will be awarded a cash prize.
Contest contributions may be submitted in the following 5 categories:
- Monetary policy and financial stability,
- Personal finance and economic education,
- Feature article or analysis,
- Regional issues.
In order to participate in the contest complete our online registration form (in Polish only) and supplement it with your contest contribution or send the completed printout of the registration form to the following address: Narodowy Bank Polski, ul. Świętokrzyska 11/21, 00-919 Warszawa, Poland, with the note: ”Konkurs im. W. Grabskiego” (Grabski Contest). (Notice: in the case of online submissions which contain radio and TV materials of more than 30 MB, please submit them to the NBP on a CD and/or DVD).
The Jury of the Contest under the chair of Professor Maciej W. Grabski, consists of outstanding experts and economic commentators who are independent of the NBP. The participation in the work of the Chapter has been already confirmed by: Radosław Bodys (Chief Economist of PKO BP), Jakub Borowski (Chief Economist of Credit Agricole Bank Polska), Agnieszka Chłoń-Domińczak (Warsaw School of Economics, Educational Research Institute), Jerzy Koźmiński (President and Chief Executive Officer of the Polish-American Freedom Foundation), Ryszard Petru (partner at PwC), Małgorzata Starczewska-Krzysztoszek (Chief Economist of Polish Confederation of Private Employers “Lewiatan”) and Iwona Sroka (President of the National Depository for Securities). No NBP representatives participate in the decision-taking proceedings of the Chapter.

Contest contributions will be assessed according to the following criteria:
- the degree of satisfying the conditions for a given category;
- journalistic skills, notably clear presentation of an economic problem to facilitate understanding of the text by the audience;
- topical character and current significance of the presented issues for the public opinion;
- interesting and individual character of the material.
