Money Supply in July 2013

NBP data: July saw a decrease in bank deposits of both households, corporates and local government units.
Preliminary data on money supply in July 2013, published by NBP on 14 August, show a slight drop on the previous month’s figure - one of 0.2% - in the M3 aggregate, which stood at PLN 944.9bn at the end of July. Most M3 components posted a minor decline. Demand for cash edged down by 0.2%; cash in circulation amounted to PLN 112.6bn as at the end of July. Household deposits shrank by 0.2%, down to PLN 529.3bn; corporate deposits decreased by approx. PLN 1.4bn (a drop of 0.7% on the end-of-June figure), to reach PLN 187.8bn at the end of July. Local government savings shrank by 2.6% and amounted to a little over PLN 27bn. Household bank debt decreased only marginally - by PLN 0.4bn in nominal terms (i.e. by 0.1%), down to PLN 552.6bn. Corporate bank debt dropped by PLN 2.8bn (i.e. 1.0%), to reach PLN 274bn at the end of the month. Net bank debt of central government bodies shrank by nearly PLN 4bn ( by 3.2%), amounting to PLN 117.6bn at the end of the month.
