Money Supply in September 2014

NBP Data: Money supply M3 in September did not change in comparison with the previous month. Corporate deposits rose, as did – to a lesser degree – household deposits. The increase in debt of those sectors was slower than in the previous month.
Preliminary data on money supply, posted by NBP on 14 September, show that in September in month-on-month terms, money stock did not change. The M3 aggregate, which reflects the total money supply, amounted to PLN 1.02 trillion, the figure seen at the end of the previous month.
The corporate deposits increased by PLN 3.4bn (i.e. by 1.6%), in September to reach PLN 208.8bn. The value of household deposits rose slightly by PLN 1.3bn (i.e. by 0.2%) and stood at PLN 567.3bn. In the sector of non-monetary financial institutions, a drop of deposits was observed. They decreased by PLN 3.8bn (i.e. by 6.7%), reaching PLN 53.0bn.
Banks claims on corporates increased by almost PLN 4.3bn (i.e. by 1.4%) and reached the value of PLN 301.4bn. The household debt also rose. It increased by PLN 3.0bn (i.e. by 0.5%) and reached PLN 590.2bn. Acquisition by one of the banks of claims from a non-monetary financial institution had a significant impact on monthly changes in both sectors. The fall of debt was recorded, however, in the sector of non-monetary institutions. Their liabilities dropped by PLN 1.4bn (i.e. by 3.1%) and stood at PLN 46.4bn.
