Poland’s reserve assets in March 2015

NBP data: At the end of March 2015, Poland’s official reserve assets, managed by Narodowy Bank Polski, stood at EUR 90.6 billion or 97.1 billion in US dollar terms.

On 7 April 2015, NBP released its data on the country’s official reserve asset holdings. According to the data, at the end of March 2015 these amounted to EUR 90.6 billion, an increase of EUR 3.7 billion on the end of February figure. In US dollar terms, Poland’s foreign exchange reserves stood at 97.1 billion against USD 97.5 billion a month earlier.

In managing foreign exchange reserves, Narodowy Bank Polski - while striving to maximize the return on the assets – gives priority to their safe investment and a requisite level of liquidity. NBP invests in typical instruments used by central banks. The bulk of the reserves is invested in Treasury securities and certain amounts are held as securities issued by international institutions and government agencies. A fraction of the reserves is maintained in the form of term deposits at banks with a high credit standing and in gold.
