The Sixth Annual Conference of the series NBP Conference on the Future of the European Economy
Date: 14-10-2016
>> More about the conference + Video recording from the conference << The operation of enterprises in Central Europe under so-called global value chains, methods to stimulate innovation, challenges resulting from the low inflation environment – these will be some of the issues addressed during the annual international NBP conference of the series “Future of the European Economy” to be held in Warsaw on 14 October 2016.
It will be the sixth time that Warsaw has hosted economists from all over the world, including representatives of central banks, international financial institutions and academia. The central theme of this year’s event will be “Central Europe’s Growth Perspectives in the New Normal World.” The speakers, who are highly respected among economists, will offer a comprehensive review of this theme, warranting an answer to the question whether Central Europe is facing the risk of perpetuating its “second-class” economic status, and what measures should be taken for the region to overcome the constraints on growth arising from the “new normal” state of the global economy, characterised by weaker economic growth and declining productivity growth.
The conference will be headed by the NBP President, Professor Adam Glapiński. Special addresses will be delivered by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Development and Finance, Mr Mateusz Morawiecki, and the President of the European Investment Bank, Mr Werner Hoyer. Participants in the discussion panels will include representatives of the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Commission, the International Monetary Fund and central banks, among others from Austria, Germany and Romania.
