Money supply in June 2016

NBP data: In June 2016, the M3 money supply rose by PLN 11.1bn. The highest growth was recorded in banks’ liabilities towards households and in cash in circulation excluding bank vault cash.
Preliminary data released by NBP on 14 July 2016 show that in June 2016 the M3 aggregate, which shows the total money supply, amounted to PLN 1.2bn at the end of the month and was PLN 11.1bn (i.e. 0.9%) higher than at the end of May 2016.
In June 2016, the highest rise was registered in household deposits – an increase of PLN 8.7bn, (i.e. 1.3%) to the level of PLN 676.9bn. Corporate deposits increased by PLN 0.8bn (i.e. 0.3%) to the level of PLN 243.1bn. Deposits of local government institutions decreased – by PLN 1.8bn (i.e. 4.9%) to PLN 34.0bn. Cash holdings (excluding vault cash) increased by PLN 3.4bn, i.e. 2.1%, to PLN 163.2bn.
The net debt of the sector of central government institutions grew by PLN 7.7 billion (i.e. 3.5%) to PLN 224.5 billion. In the case of households – their debt rose by PLN 6.5 billion (i.e. 1.0%) to PLN 652.8 billion. Corporate debt was unchanged and amounted to PLN 335.1bn.
