Money supply in July 2016

NBP data: In July 2016, the M3 money supply rose by PLN 3.2bn. The highest growth was recorded in banks’ liabilities towards households and in cash in circulation excluding bank vault cash.
Preliminary data released by NBP on 12 August 2016 show that in July 2016 the M3 aggregate, which shows the total money supply, amounted to PLN 1.2bn at the end of the month, and was PLN 3.2bn (i.e. 0.3%) higher than at the end of June 2016.
In July 2016, the highest rise was registered in household deposits – an increase of PLN 2.5bn (i.e. 0.4%) to the level of PLN 679.4bn. Corporate deposits decreased by PLN 2.5bn (i.e. 1.0%) to the level of PLN 240.7bn. Cash holdings (excluding vault cash) increased by PLN 2.5bn, i.e. 1.5%, to PLN 165.6bn.
The debt of households increased by PLN 0.2bn to PLN 653.0bn. The insignificant growth was the result of an appreciation of the zloty against foreign currencies. Corporate debt went up by PLN 2.1bn (i.e. 0.6%) to PLN 337.3bn, whereas the net debt of the sector of central government institutions declined by PLN 0.4bn (i.e. 0.2%) to PLN 224.2bn.
