Money supply in August 2016

NBP data: In August 2016, the M3 money supply rose by PLN 0.4bn. The highest growth was recorded in bank deposits and other banks’ liabilities towards enterprises.
According to preliminary data released by NBP on 14 September 2016 in August 2016 the M3 aggregate, which shows the total money supply, amounted to PLN 1.2bn at the end of the month, and was PLN 0.4bn higher than at the end of July 2016.
In August 2016, the highest rise was recorded in corporate deposits – an increase of PLN 1.3bn (i.e. 0.5%) to the level of PLN 242bn. Bank deposits and other banks’ liabilities towards households remained largely unchanged and stood at PLN 679.2bn. Cash holdings (excluding vault cash) decreased by PLN 0.9bn, to PLN 164.8bn.
Household debt increased by PLN 0.6bn (i.e. by 0.1%) to reach PLN 653.6bn. Corporate debt went up by PLN 0.4bn (i.e. 0.1%) to PLN 337.6bn, whereas the net debt of the central government sector declined by PLN 9.1bn (i.e. 4.1%) to PLN 215.2bn.
