Money supply in October 2016

October 2016 saw a rise in M3 money supply by PLN 8.4 billion. This was driven mainly by an increase in the level of household and corporate deposits.
According to preliminary data on money supply released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 14 November 2016, in October the M3 aggregate, which reflects the total money supply, amounted to PLN 1.2 trillion at the end of the month and was PLN 8.4 billion higher than at the end of September 2016.
In October 2016 the largest increase in bank deposits and other liabilities of banks was in the household sector – by PLN 3.5 billion (i.e. 0.5%) to the level of PLN 683.5 billion. The value of deposits and other liabilities towards the corporate sector rose by PLN 2.8 billion (i.e. 1.1%) to the level of PLN 248.4 billion. The value of cash in circulation (excluding vault cash) rose by PLN 1.4 billion to PLN 166.9 billion.
The value of household debt rose by PLN 2.1 billion (i.e. 0.3%) to PLN 658.3 billion. Claims on the corporate sector rose by PLN 0.7 billion to PLN 342.3 billion, while the net debt of the sector of central government institutions increased by PLN 4.5 billion (i.e. 2.1%) to PLN 221.5 billion.
