Money supply in September 2018

In September 2018, the M3 money supply rose by PLN 10.7bn. The growth was mainly driven by an increase in household deposits and other household claims on banks.
Data released by NBP on 22 October 2018 indicate that in September 2018 the M3 aggregate, reflecting the total money supply, stood at PLN 1.4bn as at the end of the month, i.e. PLN 10.7bn more than at the end of August 2018.
In September 2018, the stock of household deposits and other household claims, which are included in the M3 aggregate, increased by PLN 3.9bn, i.e. 0.5%, to PLN 770.1bn. Deposits and other claims of local government institutions on banks rose by PLN 0.4bn, i.e. 1.0%, to reach PLN 36.3bn. Corporate deposits and other claims of corporates on banks grew by PLN 0.3bn, i.e. 0.1%, to PLN 267.3bn.
Household debt increased by PLN 0.9bn, i.e. 0.1%, to PLN 713.8bn. The stock of banks’ claims on corporates rose by PLN 4.1bn to PLN 380.8bn, while the net debt of central government institutions increased by PLN 7.5bn, i.e. 2.9%, to reach PLN 264.7bn.
