Money supply in October 2018

In October 2018, the M3 money supply rose by PLN 18.5.0bn. The growth was mostly driven by an increase in household deposits and other household claims on banks.
Data released by NBP on 23 November 2018 indicate that as at the end of October the M3 aggregate, reflecting the total money supply, stood at PLN 1,394.7bn, i.e. PLN 18.5bn more than at the end of September 2018.
In October 2018, the stock of household deposits and other household claims on banks, which are included in the M3 aggregate, increased by PLN 11.5bn, i.e. 1.5%, to PLN 781.6bn. Deposits and other claims of local government institutions on banks declined by PLN 1.1bn, i.e. 3.1%, to PLN 35.2bn. Corporate deposits and other claims of corporates on banks increased by PLN 4.5bn, i.e. 1.7%, to PLN 271.9bn.
Household debt increased by PLN 4.4bn, i.e. 0.6%, to PLN 718.2bn. The stock of banks' claims on corporates rose by PLN 3.0bn, to PLN 383.9, while the net debt of central government institutions fell by PLN 22.6bn i.e. 8.6%, to reach PLN 242.1bn.
