Money supply in January 2019

January 2019 saw a decline in M3 money supply by PLN 20.7 billion. The fall was mainly caused by a decrease in corporate deposits.
According to data on money supply released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 22 February 2019, at the end of January the M3 aggregate, which reflects the total money supply, amounted to PLN 1,425.4 billion and was PLN 20.7 billion lower than at the end of December 2018.
In January 2019 the value of deposits and other liabilities of banks towards the household sector, which are included in the M3 money supply, increased by PLN 4.3 billion (i.e. 0.5%), to PLN 810.3 billion. Local government deposits and other liabilities decreased by PLN 0.2 billion (i.e. 0.6%) to the level of PLN 32.1 billion. Deposits and other liabilities towards the corporate sector decreased by PLN 14.6 billion (i.e. 5.1%), to PLN 272.7 billion.
Household debt rose by PLN 0.6 billion (i.e. 0.1%) to PLN 724.0 billion. Claims on the corporate sector rose by PLN 2.0 billion to PLN 386.1 billion, while the net debt of the sector of central government institutions decreased by PLN 14.5 billion (i.e. 5.3%) to PLN 261.2 billion.
