Money supply in October 2019

In October 2019, the M3 money supply rose by PLN 17.8bn. The rise was mostly driven by an increase in deposits and in other claims of non-financial entities and households on banks.
According to data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 26 November 2019, the M3 aggregate, reflecting the total supply of money, stood at PLN 1,523.9bn at the end of October 2019, i.e. PLN 17.8bn more than at the end of September 2019.
In October 2019, the stock of household deposits and other household claims on banks which are included in the M3 aggregate increased by PLN 6.1bn, i.e. 0.7%, to PLN 861.4bn. Deposits and other claims of other financial institutions on banks increased by PLN 0.5bn, i.e. by 1.0%, to PLN 53.3bn. Corporate deposits and other claims of corporates on banks increased by PLN 10.2bn, i.e. 3.5%, to PLN 298.0bn, while deposits and other claims of local government institutions decreased by PLN 1.3bn, i.e. 3.4%, and reached PLN 38.5bn.
Household debt fell by PLN 1.5bn, i.e. 0.2%, to reach PLN 763.8. The stock of banks’ claims on corporates fell by PLN 0.6bn, to PLN 392.2bn, while the net debt of central government institutions increased by PLN 9.2bn, i.e. 3.5%, to PLN 269.5bn.
