Money supply in February 2019

February 2019 saw an increase in M3 money supply by PLN 18.6 billion. The rise was mainly caused by an increase in household deposits.
According to data on money supply released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 22 March 2019, at the end of February the M3 aggregate, which reflects the total money supply, amounted to PLN 1,444.0 billion and was PLN 18.6 billion higher than at the end of January 2019.
In February 2019 the value of deposits and other liabilities of banks towards the household sector, which are included in the M3 money supply, increased by PLN 12.7 billion (i.e. 1.6%), to PLN 823.0 billion. Local government deposits and other liabilities increased by PLN 5.0 billion (i.e. 15.5%) to the level of PLN 37.1 billion. Deposits and other liabilities towards the corporate sector decreased by PLN 0.2 billion (i.e. 0.1%), to PLN 272.6 billion.
Household debt rose by PLN 4.3 billion (i.e. 0.6%) to PLN 728.3 billion. Claims on the corporate sector rose by PLN 2.4 billion to PLN 388.6 billion, while the net debt of the sector of central government institutions increased by PLN 15.1 billion (i.e. 5.8%) to PLN 276.3 billion.
