Money supply in June 2019

In June 2019, the M3 money supply fell by PLN 2.4 billion. The fall was mainly driven by a decrease in deposits and other claims of other financial institutions on banks.
According to data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 22 July 2019, the M3 aggregate, reflecting the total supply of money, stood at PLN 1,478.2bn as at the end of June 2019, i.e. PLN 2.4bn less than at the end of May 2019..
In June 2019, the stock of household deposits and other household claims on banks which are included in the M3 aggregate increased by PLN 2.4bn, i.e. 0.3%, to PLN 841.3bn. Deposits and other claims of other financial institutions on banks decreased by PLN 4.5bn, i.e. 7.8%, to PLN 53.0bn, and of local government institutions on banks – by PLN 0.7bn, i.e. 1.8%, to PLN 38.8bn. Corporate deposits and other claims of corporates on banks also decreased by PLN 0.7bn, i.e. 0.2%, to PLN 280.0bn.
Household debt rose by PLN 4.1bn, or 0.6%, to PLN 747.2bn. The stock of banks’ claims on corporates declined by PLN 0.7bn, to PLN 387.6bn, while the net debt of central government entities increased by PLN 1.8bn, i.e. 0.7%, to reach PLN 266.6bn.
