Money supply in August 2020

In August 2020, the M3 money supply increased by PLN 3.3bn. The increase was mostly driven by a rise in deposits and other claims of non-financial institutions
According to data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 22 September 2020, the M3 aggregate, reflecting the total supply of money, amounted to PLN 1,744.1bn at the end of August, i.e. PLN 3.3bn more than at the end of July 2020.
In August 2020, the value of household deposits and other claims of households included in the M3 aggregate decreased by PLN 1.1bn, i.e. 0.1%, and amounted to PLN 940.9bn. The stock of deposits and other claims of other financial institutions dropped by PLN 0.6bn, i.e. 1.1%, to PLN 54.0bn. The value of corporate deposits and other claims of corporates increased by PLN 2.6bn, i.e. 0.7%, to PLN 366.3bn, and in the local government sector it increased by PLN 1.4bn, i.e. 2.9%, to PLN 48.2 bn.
Household debt rose by PLN 1.5bn, i.e. 0.2%, to PLN 780.6bn. The stock of banks’ claims on corporates increased by PLN 0.5bn, i.e. 0.1%, to PLN 377.9bn, and the net debt of central government entities decreased by PLN 8.1bn, i.e. 2.2%, to PLN 357.1bn.
