Money supply in September 2020

In September 2020, the M3 money supply increased by PLN 18.1 billion. The increase was mostly driven by the growth in deposits and other claims of other financial institutions and local-government institutions.
According to data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 22 October 2020, the M3 aggregate, reflecting the total supply of money, amounted to PLN 1,762.2bn at the end of September, i.e. PLN 18.1bn more than at the end of August 2020.
In September 2020, the value of household deposits and other claims of households included in the M3 aggregate increased by PLN 3.4bn, i.e. 0.4%, and amounted to PLN 944.4bn. The stock of deposits and other claims of other financial institutions rose by 0.8bn, i.e. 1.6%, to PLN 54.8bn. The value of corporate deposits and other claims of corporates grew by 6.8bn, i.e. 1.9%, to PLN 373.1bn, and in the local government sector it increased by PLN 4.1bn, i.e. 8.6%, to PLN 52.3 billion.
Household debt increased by PLN 5.7bn, i.e. 0.7%, to PLN 786.3bn. The stock of banks’ claims on corporates diminished by PLN 1.8bn, i.e. 0.5%, to PLN 376.1bn, and the net debt of central governments entities increased by PLN 8.9bn, i.e. 2.5%, to PLN 366.0bn.
