Money supply in October 2020

In October 2020, the M3 money supply increased by PLN 20.4 billion. The increase was mostly driven by the growth in deposits and other claims of households on banks as well as in currency in circulation.
According to data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 24 November 2020, the M3 aggregate, reflecting the total supply of money, amounted to PLN 1,782.6bn at the end of October 2020, i.e. PLN 20.4bn more than at the end of September 2020.
In October 2020, the value of household deposits and other claims of households included in the M3 aggregate increased by PLN 7.6bn, i.e. 0.8%, and amounted to PLN 952.0bn. The stock of deposits and other claims of other financial institutions decreased by PLN 0.1bn, i.e. 0.1%, and remained at last month’s level of PLN 54.8bn. The value of corporate deposits and other claims of corporates increased by PLN 3.8bn, i.e. 1.0%, to PLN 376.9bn, and in the local government sector it increased by PLN 0.1bn, i.e. 0.3%, to PLN 52.4bn.
Household debt increased by PLN 4.7bn, i.e. 0.6%, to PLN 791.0bn. The stock of banks’ claims on corporates grew by PLN 1.6bn, i.e. 0.4%, to PLN 377.7bn, and the net debt of central government entities diminished by PLN 2.3bn, i.e. 0.6%, to PLN 363.6bn.
