Money supply in February 2021

In February 2021, the M3 money supply increased by PLN 16.4bn. The increase was mainly driven by a rise in deposits and other claims to households and the local government sector.

Data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 22 March 2021 show that at the end of February 2021 the M3 aggregate amounted to PLN 1,836.6bn, i.e. PLN 16.4bn more than at the end of January 2021.

In February 2021, the value of household deposits and other claims of households included in the M3 aggregate increased by PLN 10.6bn, i.e. 1.1%, and amounted to PLN 989.8bn, and the value of local government deposits and other claims of local government increased by PLN 6.4bn, i.e. 11.8%, to PLN 60.4bn. The value of corporate deposits and other claims of corporates increased by PLN 4.1bn, i.e. 1.1%, to PLN 374.1bn. The stock of deposits and other claims on other financial institutions decreased by PLN 3.3bn, i.e. 6.0%, to PLN 52.1bn.

Corporate debt decreased by PLN 1.2bn, i.e. 0.3%, to PLN 371.1bn, while household debt decreased by PLN 0.9bn, i.e. 0.1%, to PLN 787.0bn. The net debt of central government entities decreased by PLN 16.8bn, i.e. 4.4%, to PLN 361.4bn.
