At the meeting on May 11th, 2001 the Commission for Banking Supervision approved the appointment of:
  • Jacek Ksen to the position of the Management Board Chairman of Bank Zachodni S.A. with a seat in Wroclaw,
  • Wojciech Pietrasik to the position of the Management Board member of Volkswagen Bank Polska S.A. with a seat in Warsaw.
The Commission for Banking Supervision has issued permission to:
  • BNP Paribas with a seat in Paris to acquire the shares of BNP Dresdner Bank (Polska) S.A. with a seat in Warsaw, which authorize the holder to over 75% voting rights at the General Shareholders' Meeting of the Bank,
  • Caisse Nationale de Credit Agricole S.A. with a seat in Paris to acquire indirectly the shares of Lukas Bank Swietokrzyski S.A. with a seat in Kielce, which authorize the holder to over 75% voting rights at the General Shareholders' Meeting of the Bank,
  • Bank Komunalny S.A. with a seat in Gdynia to acquire the shares of BWP-Unibank S.A. with a seat in Gdansk, which authorize the holder to over 75% voting rights at the General Shareholders' Meeting of the Bank.
The Commission for Banking Supervision has issued permission for the merger of Gospodarczy Bank Poludniowo-Zachodni S.A. with a seat in Wroclaw with:
  • Bank Unii Gospodarczej S.A. with a seat in Warsaw,
  • Lubelski Bank Regionalny S.A. with a seat in Lublin,
  • Malopolski Bank Regionalny S.A. with a seat in Krakow,
  • Rzeszowski Bank Regionalny S.A. with a seat in Rzeszow,
  • Warminsko-Mazurski Bank Regionalny S.A. with a seat in Olsztyn.
It is the second consolidation of merging banks in the cooperative banking sector after the "Act on cooperative banks, their mergers and merging banks" of December 7th, 2000 became effective. As a result of this undertaking a capital group associating almost 400 cooperative banks will be established.

This merger constitutes an example of a valuable, proceeding from the rank, initiative in cooperative banking sector.

This consolidation will enable banks to improve their economic data and customer service, provide new services, introduce advanced technologies, and finally, build a sound and effective banking and cooperative group that was established according to the principles of traditional good cooperative activity.

The Commission for Banking Supervision has issued permission for the merger of Bank Spoldzielczy in Rudziniec with Bank Spoldzielczy in Gliwice.

The Commission for Banking Supervision accepted "The evaluation of monetary, tax and supervisory policies influence on the development of banks in 2000".
