Press Release 15 January 2001 At the meeting held on January 12th, 2001, the Management Board of the National Bank of Poland accepted the following: - The resolution amending the resolution on effecting payment orders and cheque operations in foreign transactions and foreign currency purchase and sale operations at the NBP;
- The resolution amending the resolution on the introduction of the "Rules of effecting payment orders and cheque operations in foreign transactions and foreign currency purchase and sale operations for the holders of bank accounts at the NBP".
The projected changes are connected with a new type of the message MT 103 that was introduced by SWIFT organization as of November 18th, 2000. This message type will replace the existing message MT 100 (Customer Transfer) used for servicing customer transfers. Up till 2003 both message types will be used, and after that the message MT 100 will be withdrawn. The new message MT 103 is longer and it also includes, among other things, the data on the party that covers the transfer cost, the amount of this cost and which party charged the cost in the transaction chain. Moreover, new fields have been added that will serve for inserting the information on the original payment currency (chosen by the customer) and what exchange rate has been applied for the exchange/conversion (so far this information has been put in the field MT 100 :72- Sender to receiver information). All the changes are aimed at ensuring an optimum automatic data processing. |
