11th Honorary Doctorate for Mr. Leszek Balcerowicz

On Tuesday, 19 November 2002, Mr. Leszek Balcerowicz is going to start an official visit in Romania, where he will receive an honorary doctorate at the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi, the oldest university in Romania. The President of the National Bank of Poland is going also to meet Mr. Mircea Dan Geoana, the foreign minister of Romania, and Mr. Mugura C. Isarescu, the Governor of the National Bank of Romania.
Tomorrow, on 19 November 2002, Mr. Leszek Balcerowicz will start a two-day visit in Romania. In Iasi Mr. Leszek Balcerowicz will attend the presentation of his book 'Post-communist transformation - selected conclusions' at the Faculty of Economy of the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University. Then Prof. Balcerowicz will receive an honorary doctorate awarded to him in recognition of the scientific output and achievements in the transformation of Polish society and economy.
During the ceremony of the honorary doctorate presentation Mr. Leszek Balcerowicz will deliver a speech "Successes and failures in catching-up". During the visit in Romania the President of the Polish central bank will meet also Mr. Mircea Dan Geoana, the foreign minister of Romania, and Mr. Mugura C. Isarescu, the Governor of the National Bank of Romania.
